More of our clients win LSTF bids
Our congratulations to Cambridgeshire, Central Bedfordshire, Derby and Gloucestershire – who have all been successful in winning money in Tranche 2 of the Local Sustainable Transport Fund.
The Department for Transport has confirmed that 30 more projects will share £113 million from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund, supporting more sustainable transport schemes which boost local economies while cutting carbon through greater use of walking, cycling, public transport and low carbon car use for everyday journeys.
Bids which The Smarter Choice Consultancy and sister consultancy Transport for Quality of Life supported development of have netted almost £20 million of Tranche 2 funding:
- Cambridgeshire County Council – Getting Cambridgeshire to Work (£5m)
- Central Bedfordshire – South Central Bedfordshire: Smarter Routes to Employment (£4.95m)
- Derby City Council – Derby: Better Ways to Work (£4.92m)
- Gloucestershire County Council – Cheltenham & Gloucester Sustainable Travel Programme (£4.96m)
In total, our collective expertise has helped seven projects win a total of £35 million from the Fund; but more importantly will lead to more people walking, cycling, catching the bus and riding the train.
The Tranche 2 announcement means that the Department still has almost half the fund (a further £278 million) to allocate to Large Projects and the 18 Tranche 2 projects still to be announced.
So we are keeping our fingers crossed for East Sussex’s Travel Choices for Lewes and Hampshire’s Sustainable Transport Solutions for England’s Two Newest National Parks bids, as well as for the West of England Sustainable Travel large project.
